The Self Insurers of South Australia (SISA) is the peak representative body for self-insured employers in South Australia. As an incorporated association, SISA represents many of the State’s largest private and public sector organisations that are self-insured under the Return to Work Act 2014 (SA). Collectively, our membership accounts for approximately 38% of South Australia’s employment by remuneration.
Established on 3 August 1984 as the Employer Managed Workers Compensation Association (EMWCA), the organisation formally adopted the name SISA in November 2005, reflecting its long-standing identity and leadership within the self-insurance sector.
SISA plays a central role in supporting and advocating for its members. As the recognised voice of self-insured employers, we work closely with ReturnToWorkSA, SafeWork SA, government, unions and industry stakeholders to influence policy, shape reform and strengthen the self-insurance framework.
We are committed to promoting excellence in work health and safety, injury prevention, and return to work practices. Through collaboration, knowledge-sharing and practical support, SISA helps members navigate regulatory requirements, improve outcomes and build organisational capability.
