The Australian Safety & Compensation Council (ASCC) met on 22 August 2007 and declared the National Standard and Code of Practice for Manual Tasks for implementation within 2 years.
In a media release, ASCC Chair Bill Scales stated that the aim of the new standard and code of practice is to prevent strain injuries in hazardous manual tasks. The code defines 'hazardous manual tasks'.
The standard and code of practice can be accessed on the ASCC website.
