The winners of the SISA OH&S and Injury Management Awards were announced at a dinner function held at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Friday 17 August. An audience of 240 SISA members and VIP guests heard a speech by Sir James Hardy, after which the awards were presented. The winners were:
Injury Prevention Award
o Certificates of Commendation to Arnott’s Biscuits and the City of Port Adelaide Enfield.
o Joint Winners - Santos Ltd and Coles Liquor Group
Injury Management Award
Winner – South Australia Police
Consolidated Approach Award
Joint Winners – Southern Cross Care Inc and Santos Ltd
Best OH&S Practitioner Award
o Certificate of Commendation to Glyn Williams, Southern Cross Care Inc
o Winner - John Sargaison, Santos Ltd
Outstanding Employee Contribution Award
Winner - David Tassotti, Coles Liquor Group Ltd
Contractor & Supplier OH&S Management Award
o Certificate of Commendation to Clipsal Australia Pty Ltd
o Winner – Santos Ltd
The event was sponsored by a long list of SISA supporters, generously led by Finlaysons Lawyers and the Fosters Group. Grant Archer of Finlaysons and Paul McNab of Fosters Group presented the awards.
SISA Chairman Steve Standen and Master of Ceremonies Mike Smithson of Channel 7 both congratulated the winners. “The selection of the winners from among the many nominees was a thorough and diligent process consisting of site visits, staff interviews and documentation review,” Mr Standen said. “Tonight’s event has showcased the excellence and expertise of self insurers in both OH&S and injury management, and it is SISA’s intention to further grow its awards as one of the major events on the South Australian calendar”.
