Safe Work Australia releases four new hazardous chemical guides.

Safe Work Australia has released the following hazardous chemical guides:

Health monitoring for persons conducting a business or undertaking guide

This guide explains the duties for monitoring the health of workers under the model WHS Act and Regulations.

Health monitoring when you work with hazardous chemicals guide

Guide for workers regarding what their and their PCBU must do to monitor worker health.

Health monitoring for registered medical practitioners guide

This guide is for registered medical practitioners with experience in health monitoring who are engaged by a PCBUs to carry out or supervise health monitoring. It provides practical guidance to registered medical practitioners about requirements under the WHS laws for health monitoring.

Crystalline silica health monitoring guide

This guide provides registered medical practitioners with practical guidance on requirements under the work health and safety laws for health monitoring of workers exposed to crystalline silica.

Note that these guides have been developed to align with the model WHS laws. As some jurisdictional versions of the model Act and Regulations vary from the model laws to different degrees, it is recommended that users of these guides check their advice against the WHS Act and Regulations of the relevant jurisdiction.
