Industrial Relations Minister Michael Wright has appointed Mr Wayne Lines as Acting WorkCover Ombudsman.
In a media release on 24 June 2008, Minister Wright appointed Mr Lines from 1 July for a period of up to 12 months. During that time, Mr Lines will have carraige of the establishment of the office, staffing, procedures and protocols.
The Minister's release further stated that “Wayne Lines has been a Managing Solicitor of the State Crown Solicitor’s Office civil litigation section for the past 14 years. He has an extensive Workers Compensation background and has an excellent reputation in the wider legal community. Mr Lines’ appointment will allow time for consultation with unions, business and other stakeholders before someone is permanently appointed to the position for a period of up to seven years".
