We provide training to organisations, informing employees about prevention of mental health injuries and illnesses, as well as training in mental health first aid,and wellbeing and resilience.

  • Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the initial assistance given to an individual with a mental health problem before medical treatment can be obtained.  It is the help provided to an individual developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis.  The first aid is given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves. Delivered by nb&a group's accredited Master MHFA Instructor, this course aims to educate participants on the signs and symptons of mental health problems or a mental health crisis, where and how to get help and what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective.
  • Workforce Wellbeing and Resilience Training teaches participamts a set of resources and skills that promote effective problem solving, adaptability, positive coping, self regulation and social support.  The course focuses on: 
    • components of PERMA+ (Positive emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning and Accomplishment plus Optimism, Resilience, Physical Activity, Nutrition and Sleep), which serve as the building blocks for wellbeing
    • research behind building resilience with interactive activities
    • concrete research-based resilience building skills which participants can begin using immediately.

Restoring an individual to a quality of life that is meaningful and long lasting, focusing on self-management to take control and put the individual first.  Delivered in a group setting over six weeks, participants attend for two and a half hours, once a week.

Facilitated by two Stanford University trained leaders, both with long-term health conditions, the program is based on the worldwide and respected Stanford University Self-Management Program (Better Choices, Better Health® Workshop) and is also supported by Flinders University.

Adjusting to Change

Change, whether positive or negative, requires adjustment.  For many people this adjustment process can be overwhelming.  Using Acceptance and Commitment Theory (ACT), Adjusting to Change is targeted at assessing the impact of a situation on an individual's life, dealing with and accepting any feelings of grief or loss (such as loss of job or life roles) and the development of psychological resilience.

Freedom to Move Pain Education

Freedom to Move is nb&a's unique pain education program.  It draws on the internationally recognised principles of Explain Pain (Butler and Moseley, 2003) and demystifies the pain experience through contemporary education principles about the biology of pain.  This program is provided one on one over a series of sessions and aims to greater educate the individual about their pain experience and how to better manage pain.
