A basic pre-employment medical costs $80-00 and unless otherwise requested is carried out to the same standard as required for a Private Pilot Licence.
A certificate of fitness will be provided and if any condition is found that is a cause for concern the examinee and employer will be informed in writing.
A comprehensive medical examination costs $140-00 and includes –
- Computerised spirometry
- Blood tests (Pathology laboratory fees are billed separately.)
The basic blood tests include cholesterol (with fractionated lipids) and sugar.
You may also request a full blood biochemical and haematological profile as well as screens for sexually transmitted diseases, including hepatitis and AIDS. This profile would cover most illnesses, real and imaginary, that individuals often think they may have.
You may also specifically request an immediate screen for drugs of abuse: alcohol, cannabis, amphetamines, cocaine, opioids and sedatives. This can be done from a urine specimen on the spot for an additional fee of $120-00. Specimens are checked for adulteration, dilution, substitution and contamination. A prompt telephone report is given and a written certificate of the result is sent the same day. However, if there is any suspicion as to the genuineness of the specimen it will be sent for full forensic analysis.
