WorkCover SA has recently completed the claims agent tender process and has announced Gallagher Bassett (GB) as a second agent for the South Australian workers compensation scheme. GB currently provides third party claims management and consultancy services for self-insurers.
SISA contacted GB to establish whether they were still going to provide services for SISA members or whether they were prevented from doing so under the terms of the new contract with WorkCover SA. GB responded “The details of the contract are confidential however we can categorically assure you that there is nothing which prevents us from continuing to provide services to self-insurers in South Australia”.
SISA was told that GB has just restructured its organisation and moved away from a geographic approach to one defined by product lines. This will see the three statutory workers’ compensation operations (SA, NSW and Victoria) segregated from the self-insured and general insurance business. The SI/GI (Self Insurance/General Insurance) product stream has its own Executive General Manager (Damien Gilhooley).
GB added “We have had significant growth in the self-insurance side of the business over the last 18 months and are working on a number of exciting opportunities. It’s most certainly business as usual for our team in Adelaide.”
